Do I need planning permission for my Conservatory?
Most properties have a "permitted development" limit of between 50 and 70 cubic metres depending on location. If your proposed conservatory won,t exceed this, planning permission will not normally be required. However, if your property has been extended in the past, some or all of your permitted development area will have been used in which case you may have to seek permission to expand further.
Permission will usually be sought for proposed extensions to listed buildings or property in conservation areas also if the proposed extension is within 20mtrs of a public right of way. It is also worth noting that permitted development rights are sometimes withdrawn from a property. In such cases any extension, however small, will need planning permission. If in doubt, check with our sales advisors who will be able to help.
